Rickey Bustle was fired as head coach at Louisiana-Lafayette after nine seasons. He had a career record of 41-65 with the Ragin' Cajuns. The coaching tree has come up with three potential replacements:

COACHING TREE CONNECTIONS:
- Coached defensive backs at Georgia Southern from 1987-95, spending the last 5 seasons as defensive coordinator as well. ULL interim athletic director Scott Farmer was an associate AD at Georgia Southern at the same time.
Mike Sewak is the offensive line coach at Georgia Tech, where he is in his third season. Sewak was the head coach at Georgia Southern from 2002-05, compiling a 35-14 record. A longtime Paul Johnson assistant, Sewak is a disciple of the spread option offense, having been on staff with Johnson at Hawaii, Georgia Southern, and now Georgia Tech.
COACHING TREE CONNECTIONS:
- Offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern from 1997-2001. Scott Farmer was the associate AD during Sewak's first two years (97-98).
