Illinois Coaching Staff

Tim Beckman has been hired as the new head coach at Illinois.  He has already brought TE coach Alex Golesh and Mike Ward from Toledo as well as retaining DL coach Keith Gilmore.  It remains to be seen what position Ward will coach, which makes it a little more difficult to predict the remaining hires.  That being said, here is a look at some possible hires to fill Beckman's staff:

QUARTERBACKS COACH

Gregg Brandon* - Wyoming Offensive Coordinator

• Head coach at Bowling Green from 2003-08 after working as the team's offensive coordinator in 2001 and '02.  He worked on staff with Tim Beckman in 2003 and '04 and with Mike Ward from 2003-08.

Scott Satterfield* - Florida International Offensive Coordinator

• QB coach at Toledo in 2009 under Beckman.

Nick Siciliano - ex-Ohio State Quarterbacks Coach

• Worked at OSU as a quality control assistant from 2005-08 before becoming QB coach in '09.  Beckman coached cornerbacks at Ohio State in 2005 and '06.

RUNNING BACKS COACH

Mike Faragalli* - Virginia Running Backs Coach

• Offensive coordinator at Bowling Green from 1991-94 and again from 1996-99.  Tim Beckman was the defensive coordinator at Bowling Green from 1998-2004 and Mike Ward was on the staff from 1992-2008.

Mike Sabock - Western Michigan Running Backs/Special Teams Coach

• Assistant coach at Northern Illinois from 1984-2007.  Alex Golesh was a graduate assistant at NIU in 2006 and '07.

WIDE RECEIVERS COACH

PJ Fleck - Rutgers Wide Receivers Coach

• WR coach at Northern Illinois from 2007-09.  Alex Golesh was a GA at NIU in 2006 and '07.
• Graduate assistant at Ohio State in 2006, where Tim Beckman was the Buckeyes cornerbacks coach.

Zach Azzanni* - Western Kentucky Offensive Coordinator

• WR coach at Bowling Green from 2003-06 after starting as a GA with the team in 2001 and '02.  He worked with both Beckman and Mike Ward during his time at Bowling Green.

Billy Gonzales* - LSU Wide Receivers Coach

• WR coach at Bowling Green in 2001 and '02, where he worked with Tim Beckman and Mike Ward.

Sam Pittman - ex-North Carolina Offensive Line Coach

• OL coach at Northern Illinois from 2003-06.  Alex Golesh was a Graduate assistant on the NIU staff in 2006 and '07.

Ron Hudson - ex-New Mexico Offensive Line Coach

• OL coach at Bowling Green in 2000, where he worked with both Tim Beckman and Mike Ward.

Jim Bollman* - ex-Ohio State Offensive Coordinator

• Was the offensive coordinator at Ohio State from 2001-11.  He worked with Beckman in 2005 and '06 and with Alex Golesh from 2003-05.

Deion Melvin - Lindenwood University Defensive Coordinator

• LB coach at Bowling Green in 2007 and '08, where he worked with Mike Ward, who was the team's defensive coordinator.

Al Seamonson - ex-Central Florida Linebackers Coach

• Coached linebackers and special teams at Bowling Green in 2000, where he worked on the defensive staff with Tim Beckman and Mike Ward.

Joe Tresey* - ex-UCLA Defensive Coordinator

• Defensive coordinator at Cincinnati in 2007 and '08, where Keith Gilmore was his DL coach.
• Defensive coordinator at Central Michigan in 2006, with Gilmore as his DL coach.

Corey Barlow - ex-UAB Cornerbacks Coach

• Played defensive back at Auburn from 1988-91.  Tim Beckman was a graduate assistant at Auburn in 1988 and '89.

Tommy Thigpen* - Auburn Safeties Coach

• Was an assistant at Illinois in 2003 and '04.
• Coached defensive backs and special teams at Bowling Green in 2001 and '02, where he worked on staff with Tim Beckman and Mike Ward.
