Kentucky has fired co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Steve Brown. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:
Jeff Burrow - Kent State Safeties Coach- DB coach at Indiana State in 2010, where he worked with Rick Minter, who coached the Sycamore linebackers.
- Safeties coach at Marshall in '09 under Minter, who was the team's defensive coordinator.
- Graduate assistant at Notre Dame in 2005 and '06, Minter's two seasons spent as the defensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish.
- Played DB at Cincinnati, where Minter was his head coach.
Mike Cassity - Marshall Cornerbacks Coach- Defensive coordinator at Louisville from 2003-07, where he worked on staff with both Greg Nord and Mike Summers.
- Defensive coordinator at Cincinnati in 1994, where he worked under Rick Minter.
- Defensive coordinator at East Carolina in 1990 and '91. He worked on staff with Greg Nord, who coached the team's running backs.
- DB coach at Kentucky from 1979-81. Nord and Summers were both graduate assistants with the team and Chuck Smith was a LB for the Wildcats from 1977-80.
- Played at Kentucky from 1972-74 and was a student assistant in '75.
Rick Smith - USF Defensive Backs Coach- DB coach at Kentucky from 1990-96 and again in 2000 and '01. During his first stint in Lexington, he worked with both Joker Phillips and David Turner.
- Defensive coordinator at Cincinnati in 1999 under head coach Rick Minter.
