North Carolina Coaching Staff


Larry Fedora has been hired as the new head coach at North Carolina.  He has already hired Vic Koenning from Illinois, Dan Disch from Southern Miss, and Gunter Brewer from Ole Miss.  Here is our projection of how we think the rest of the staff might shape up:
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/QB COACH

Blake Anderson - Southern Miss Offensive Coordinator
  • Has been on Larry Fedora's staff at USM since 2008, starting with two years as QB coach and the last two as offensive coordinator.
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR/INSIDE LINEBACKERS COACH

RUNNING BACKS COACH

Pat Washington - Southern Miss Running Backs/Special Teams Coach
  • Has been at Southern Miss since 2009 under Larry Fedora.
  • Worked on staff at Baylor with Fedora in 1993.

  • Ken Browning, North Carolina
WIDE RECEIVERS COACH

TIGHT ENDS COACH

Robert Matthews - Southern Miss Tight Ends Coach
  • Spent the 2011 season as TE coach at Southern Miss after working as an administrative assistant in 2010.
  • Worked as director of football operations (2006) and recruiting director (2007-09) at Oklahoma State.  Larry Fedora was the offensive coordinator at OSU from 2005-07 and Gunter Brewer was an assistant for the Cowboys from 2005-10.

OFFENSIVE LINE COACH

Chris Kapilovic - Southern Miss Offensive Line Coach
  • OL coach at Southern Miss for the last four seasons under Larry Fedora.

  • Dave Johnson, Cincinnati
  • Mike Markuson, ex-Ole Miss
DEFENSIVE LINE COACH

Art Kaufman - North Carolina Defensive Coordinator
  • Has been on staff at UNC since 2009.
  • Coached defensive line and special teams at Southern Miss under Fedora in 2008.
  • OLB coach at Ole Miss from 1988-90.  New UNC receivers coach Gunter Brewer was a graduate assistant in 1988 and '89.

  • Deke Adams, Southern Miss
  • Ken Browning, North Carolina
OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS COACH

Ron West - Illinois Outside Linebackers Coach
  • Coached with Vic Koenning at Illinois the last two seasons.
  • Coached outside linebackers at Clemson from 1999-2008.  Koenning was Clemson's defensive coordinator from 2005-08.
  • OL coach at Baylor from 1993-96.  Larry Fedora was the WR coach at Baylor from 1991-96.
