Wyoming Defensive Coordinator

Wyoming is looking for a new defensive coordinator.  Marty English will stay on staff, but just as LB coach.  DB coach Alex Grinch recently left for a position at Missouri, so the new defensive coordinator will likely also coach defensive backs.  Here is our list of possible candidates for the position:

Chris Tormey - ex-Washington State Linebackers Coach
  • LB coach at Washington from 2004-08.  Pete Kaligis was the strength and conditioning coach at Washington from 1999-2004.
  • Started his college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Washington in 1980 and '81, and was a full-time assistant coach for the Huskies from 1984-94, including two seasons as defensive coordinator.  Pete Kaligis played OL at Washington from 1990-94 and Dave Christensen was the OL coach in 1988 and '89.

Tim Hundley - ex-UCLA Defensive Backs Coach
  • Defensive coordinator at Washington from 1999-2003, where he worked on staff with Pete Kaligis, who was the strength and conditioning coach.

Cornell Ford - Missouri Cornerbacks Coach
  • Has coached defensive backs at Missouri since 2001.  Dave Christensen was the offensive coordinator at Missouri from 2001-08.
  • Was a graduate assistant at Toledo in 1991 and '92, and was the team's WR coach from 1996-2000.  Christensen was on staff at Toledo from 1992-2000.

Larry Slade - Louisville Defensive Backs Coach
  • Coached at Washington from 1986-91, where he worked for two seasons on staff with Dave Christensen, who was the Huskies OL coach in 1988 and '89.

Other names in consideration:
  • Charles McMillan, Texas A&M
  • Adam Gonzaga, Ohio Northern
  • Darrell Perkins, UConn
