Offensive coordinator/RB coach Calvin Magee, tight ends coach Tony Dews, and defensive backs coach Tony Gibson have all left the Pitt staff to join Rich Rodriguez at Arizona. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:
RUNNING BACKS COACH
Shelton Gandy - ex-North Texas Running Backs/Special Teams Coach
- Coached at North Texas from 2008-10 under head coach Todd Dodge.
Doug Downing - Eastern Michigan Running Backs Coach
- RB coach at Toledo from 2001-08. Randall McCray was the LB coach at Toledo from 2003-05 and Paul Randolph was the DL and special teams coach there in 2001.
Jahmile Addae - Cincinnati Running Backs Coach
- Played defensive back at West Virginia from 2001-05. Todd Graham was on the Mountaineers' staff in 2001 and '02, and was Addae's position coach in 2002.
TIGHT ENDS COACH
- TE coach at Tulsa in 2009 under head coach Todd Graham.
- Graduate assistant at West Virginia from 2000-05, working on staff with Todd Graham in 2001 and '02.
Bob Palcic - UCLA Offensive Line Coach
- OL coach at Wisconsin in 2006 and '07, where he worked on staff with Randall McCray, who coached the Badgers defensive line.
Dave Ungerer - Washington State Running Backs/Special Teams Coach
- TE/ST coach at Alabama from 2003-06. Paul Randolph was the Crimson Tide's defensive ends coach from 2003-05.
DEFENSIVE BACKS COACH
Chris Ball - Washington State Defensive Coordinator
- Defensive backs coach at Pitt in 2007.
- DB coach at Alabama from 2003-06. Pitt co-DC Paul Randolph coached defensive ends at Alabama from 2003-05.
Galen Scott - Memphis Defensive Coordinator
- Coached defensive backs at Tulsa along with Keith Patterson 2008 and '09 under Todd Graham.
- Coached at Illinois State from 2001-07 after playing there from 1997-2000. Randall McCray came to ISU in 2000 as defensive coordinator and worked on staff with Scott for two seasons. Also, Paul Randolph was an assistant with the team his senior year.
Adam Waugh - Louisiana-Monroe Safeties Coach
- Graduate assistant at Pitt in 2002.
- Played linebacker at Illinois State from 1998-2001, where Randall McCray was his defensive coordinator for two years and Paul Randolph was on staff for one season (2000).
