UCLA Coaching Staff

Jim Mora is the new head football coach at UCLA. He didn't waste much time assembling his staff, already hiring five assistants with four more slots left to be filled. Here is our projection for the Bruins new staff:

Mike Johnson - UCLA Offensive Coordinator
  • QB coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 2003-05. Jim Mora was the Falcons' head coach from 2004-06.

Scott Brown - Arizona State Defensive Line Coach
  • Worked on staff at ASU in 2011 with Noel Mazzone, who was the Sun Devils' offensive coordinator as well as Steve Broussard, who coached WRs.
  • DL coach at Minnesota from 1992-95. He worked with Mazzone in 1992 and '93 when Mazzone was the team's QB coach.
  • DL coach at TCU from 1983-91. Mazzone was the Horned Frogs' QB coach from 1987-91.
Buddy Wyatt - Kansas Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line Coach
  • Assistant coach at Minnesota from 1992-95, working with Noel Mazzone in 1992 and '93.
  • Graduate assistant at TCU in 1991 after playing DL there from 1986-89. Mazzone was on the staff from 1987-91.
Grady Stretz - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defensive Line Coach
  • DL coach at Arizona State from 2005-10. He worked on staff with Noel Mazzone and Steve Broussard, both of whom were on the Sun Devils staff in 2010 and '11.
  • Played defensive line at UCLA from 1990-94.
LINEBACKERS COACH


Art Kaufman - North Carolina Defensive Coordinator
  • Defensive coordinator at Ole Miss from 1995-2000. He worked on staff with Noel Mazzone from 1995-98 when Mazzone was the Rebels' offensive coordinator.
Roman Phifer - ex-Denver Broncos Assistant Linebackers Coach
  • Played linebacker for the New England Patriots from 2001-04. New UCLA OL coach Adrian Klemm played for the Patriots from 2000-04.
  • Played LB at UCLA from 1987-90.
Chris Beake - Cleveland Browns Offensive Assistant
  • Offensive assistant with the Seattle Seahawks in 2008 and '09. Jim Mora was the DB coach for the Seahawks until taking over as head coach in 2009.
  • LB coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 2004-06, Mora's three seasons as the Falcons' head coach.
  • Assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers from 1999-2003, when Mora was the 49ers' defensive coordinator.

Dennis McKnight - Edmonton Eskimos (CFL) Running Backs Coach
  • Special teams coach at SMU in 2009 and '10. Adrian Klemm was SMU's offensive line coach from 2009-11.
  • Special teams coach at Hawaii in 1999 and 2000. Klemm was a senior offensive lineman at Hawaii in '99.
  • Played offensive line for the San Diego Chargers from 1982-88. Jim Mora was an assistant with the Chargers from 1985-91.
Jeff Ulbrich - Seattle Seahawks Assistant Special Teams Coach
  • Played LB for the 49ers from 2000-09. Jim Mora was the 49ers' defensive coordinator from 1999-2003.
  • Played at Hawaii in 1998 and '99, where he played with Adrian Klemm, who played OL from 1996-99.
