Brian Polian has left Stanford to join Kevin Sumlin's staff at Texas A&M. Here are some names that could possibly replace him as special teams coach for the Cardinal:
Matt Weiss - Baltimore Ravens Quality Control Coach
- Was on staff at Stanford from 2005-08, working as a defensive and special teams assistant.
Dave Fipp - Miami Dolphins Assistant Special Teams Coach
- Assistant special teams coach for the San Francisco 49ers from 2008-10, where he worked on staff with Jason Tarver, who coached the Niners' outside linebackers.
Clayton White - UConn Running Backs/Special Teams Coach
- Coached defensive backs and special teams at Western Kentucky in 2010, where he worked with Mike Sanford, who was the Hilltoppers' offensive coordinator in '10.
- DB coach and assistant special teams coach at Stanford from 2007-09. During his stint with the Cardinal, he worked with Sanford, David Shaw, and Lance Anderson.
Troy Walters - ex-Texas A&M Wide Receivers Coach
- Played at Stanford from 1996-99.
- Has never coached special teams, but was a very good kick and punt returner during his eight year NFL career.
