Memphis Coaching Staff

Justin Fuente has been hired as the new head coach at Memphis. It didn't take long for him to start assembling his staff, having already hired six of his nine assistant coaches. Here is our projection for the rest of his staff:
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/QUARTERBACKS COACH

Rob Phenicie - UNLV Offensive Coordinator
  • Began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Memphis in 1989 and '90 after playing wide receiver for the Tigers from 1985-88.
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR/SAFETIES COACH

WIDE RECEIVERS COACH

Tucker Waugh - Army Slot Backs Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
  • WR coach at Illinois State from 1997-99. Galen Scott played LB at ISU from 1997-2000.

TIGHT ENDS/SPECIAL TEAMS COACH

DEFENSIVE LINE COACH

Eric Mathies - Western Kentucky Defensive Tackles Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
  • Played defensive line at Murray State from 1995-97. Chris Vaughn was one of his teammates. Vaughn played linebacker at Murray State from 1994-97.
