Baltimore Ravens Linebackers Coach

With Chuck Pagano leaving to become the new Colts head coach, Dean Pees has been promoted to defensive coordinator.  With the promotion of Pees, there is now an opening on the staff fora new linebackers coach.  Here is a list of potential candidates for the job:


Don Martindale - ex-Denver Broncos Defensive Coordinator
  • Defensive ends coach at Cincinnati in 1996, where John Harbaugh was the Bearcats special teams coach.
  • Worked on staff at Notre Dame in 1994 and '95.  Dean Pees was the DB coach at Notre Dame in '94.
  • Coached linebackers and special teams in 2001 and '02, where John Harbaugh's father, Jack, was the head coach from 1989-2002.


Mike Murphy - Indianapolis Colts Linebackers Coach
  • Has been the Colts LB coach since 1998.  New Ravens QB coach Jim Caldwell was on the Colts staff from 2002-11.
  • LB coach at Arizona from 1990-93.  Clarence Brooks coached the defensive line at Arizona from 1990-92.


Randy Shannon - ex-Miami Head Coach
  • LB coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2000.  Clarence Brooks coached the Dolphins DL from 2000-04.
  • LB coach at Miami from 1993-97.  He was Ray Lewis' position coach at the U.
  • Defensive coordinator at Miami from 2001-06.  In his first season as DC, he coached Ed Reed as the Hurricanes went undefeated and won the National Championship.  


Larry Izzo - New York Giants Assistant Special Teams Coach
  • Played LB for the Patriots from 2001-08.  Dean Pees was the Patriots LB coach in 2004 and '05 and was the defensive coordinator from 2006-08.
  • Played LB for the Dolphins from 1996-2000.  Clarence Brooks joined the staff in Izzo's last year with the team.
