With co-Defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Greg Brown leaving for Colorado, the Wildcats have promoted Tim Kish to DC, and must still hire a defensive backs coach. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:
Duane Akina - Texas Defensive Backs Coach
- Coached at Arizona from 1987-2000.
Johnnie Lynn - ex-San Francisco 49ers Defensive Backs Coach
- Coached at Arizona from 1987-93.
Eric Schumann - ex-UAB Defensive Coordinator
- Defensive coordinator at Tulane from 2002-06, where he worked with Frank Scelfo and Garret Chachere.
Brandon Shelby - Louisiana-Monroe Cornerbacks Coach
- Graduate assistant at Arizona in 2007.
- Played at Oklahoma from 2000-04. Played for Mike Stoops his first four years at OU.

Kevin Curtis, Louisiana Tech;
Tim Rebowe, Louisiana-Lafayette;
Dave Fipp, San Francisco 49ers;
Jay Sawvel, Northern Illinois.
