Cal WR/OL Coach

Kevin Daft has been fired as wide receivers coach at Cal and offensive line coach Steve Marshall left for Colorado to join Jon Embree's staff. The coaching tree has come up with potential replacements for the open positions:

WIDE RECEIVERS COACH


Gregg Brandon - Las Vegas Locomotives Tight Ends Coach
  • Wide receivers coach at Northwestern from 1992-98. TE/special teams coach Jeff Genyk coached at Northwestern from 1992-2003.
Eric Kiesau - ex-Colorado Offensive Coordinator
  • WR coach at Cal from 2002-05, part of Jeff Tedford's original staff.
  • Played quarterback at Portland State from 1992-95. Running backs coach Ron Gould was the DB coach at Portland State in '92.
  • Still may be retained at Colorado, but not as offensive coordinator.
Dedric Ward - Northern Iowa Wide Receivers Coach
  • Kansas City Chiefs WR coach in 2009, when Clancy Pendergast was the Chiefs' defensive coordinator.
  • Offensive quality control assistant with the Arizona Cardinals in 2007 and '08. Pendergast was the Cardinals' defensive coordinator from 2004-08.
Other names in consideration: Mike Wilson, Las Vegas Locomotives; Wes Chandler, ex-NFL WR coach; Nick Sirianni, Kansas City Chiefs.


OFFENSIVE LINE COACH


Dan Finn - Idaho Offensive Line Coach
  • Graduate assistant at Utah in 2005 and '06. Andy Ludwig was the Utes' offensive coordinator from 2005-08.
Charlie Dickey - Kansas State Offensive Line Coach
  • Offensive line coach at Utah from 2005-08, when Ludwig was the OC.
Tim Davis - ex-Minnesota Offensive Line Coach
  • Utah offensive line coach from 1990-96. Andy Ludwig was a graduate assistant at Utah in '92.
  • Offensive line coach at Idaho State in 1989, where he coached with Ludwig, who was the QB coach.
Other names in consideration: Doug Lichtenberger, Tulane; Bill Tripp, Army; Gary Bernardi, San Jose State; Brent Myers, UNLV.
