Ohio State Wide Receivers Coach

Darrell Hazell has left Ohio State to become the new head coach at Kent State. Known for great staff continuity, Jim Tressel shouldn't have much trouble finding a high quality assistant to add to the mix. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:

PJ Fleck - Rutgers Wide Receivers Coach
  • Graduate assistant at Ohio State in 2006.

AJ Pratt - Western Kentucky Tight Ends/Offensive Tackles Coach
  • Graduate assistant at Kent State in 1999 before becoming the WR coach in 2000. He eventually was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2008. He coached with Paul Haynes, who was the defensive backs coach at Kent State in 1999 and 2000.

Shane Montgomery - Youngstown State Offensive Coordinator
  • Offensive coordinator at Miami (Ohio) from 2001-04 before becoming head coach. Coached with both John Peterson and Taver Johnson during his tenure with the RedHawks.

Mike Sullivan - New York Giants Quarterbacks Coach
  • Defensive backs coach at Youngstown State in 1997 and '98 under Jim Tressel.

Other names in consideration: Charlie Baggett, Tennessee; Billy Lynch, Indiana; Adam Gase, Denver Broncos.
