Utah Defensive Line Coach


Utah defensive line coach John Pease has retired after two years with the Utes. He also coached in the NFL for 19 seasons in addition to a long college coaching career that started as a graduate assistant at Utah in 1968. The coaching tree has come up with three potential replacements:


DJ Eliot is in his first season as the defensive ends coach at Florida State after three years as the defensive line coach at Rice. He has also spent time as an assistant at Tulsa and Texas State. In his first season at FSU, the Seminoles are second in the country in sacks.

COACHING TREE CONNECTIONS:
  • LB coach at Texas State from 2003-05. Utah offensive line coach Blake Miller was the OL coach at Texas State from 2004-06.




John Frank is currently in his third season as a graduate assistant at Utah, working mainly with the defensive line. He also gained experience with two years as DL coach at Dixie State College.

COACHING TREE CONNECTIONS:
  • GA at Utah from 2008-present.
  • Played defensive line at Utah from 1996-99.




Ken Delgado is in his first year coaching defensive line at Eastern Michigan. He spent the previous two seasons as DL coach at Louisville. Prior to that, he spent six years at Cal and eight at San Diego State.

COACHING TREE CONNECTIONS:
  • DL coach at San Diego State from 1994-2001 (Defensive coordinator in 2000 and '01). Utah offensive coordinator Dave Schramm was an assistant at San Diego State from 1990-2001.
  • DL coach at Utah in 1993.
