San Jose State WR/TE Coach


With Brent Brennan leaving for Oregon State and Tim Landis taking a head coaching job at RPI, San Jose State is in need of two new assistants. John DeFilippo has been promoted to offensive coordinator, so the Spartans will likely be looking for a new wide receivers coach as well as someone to coach tight ends. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:


WIDE RECEIVERS COACH


Chris Wiesehan - Winnepeg Blue Bombers (CFL) Wide Receivers Coach
  • Graduate assistant at UCLA in 2009, were current SJSU GA Vae Tata was a student assistant.
  • WR coach at Northern Arizona in 2004, where he coached with Gary Bernardi, who was the offensive line coach.
Thomas Woods - Tulane Wide Receivers Coach
  • WR coach at Ole Miss from 2000-05. Mike MacIntyre was an assistant at Ole Miss from 1999-2002, and Charles Clark played for the Rebels from 2002-06.
Wes Chandler - ex-Cleveland Browns Wide Receivers Coach
  • Dallas Cowboys WR coach from 2000-02. New DL coach Jim Jeffcoat was an assistant with the Cowboys from 1998-2005.

TIGHT ENDS COACH


Keith Uperesa - Nicholls State Offensive Line Coach
  • Offensive line coach at UNLV from 2005-09, where he coached with Gary Bernardi, who was the TE coach.
Ed Foley - Temple Director of Football Operations
  • Offensive coordinator at Fordham from 1999-2003 before becoming head coach in '04. John DeFilippo was the QB coach at Fordham in 2000.
Vance Vice - Louisiana-Monroe Offensive Line Coach
  • Graduate assistant at Georgia from 1990-92. Mike MacIntyre was a GA for the Bulldogs in 1990 and '91.
