Iowa Defensive Coordinator

Norm Parker will retire after Iowa's bowl game after a 46 year coaching career including the last 13 seasons with the Hawkeyes. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:

Phil Parker - Iowa Defensive Backs Coach
  • DB coach at Iowa since 1999.
Darrell Wilson - Iowa Linebackers/Special Teams Coach
  • Has been on the Iowa staff since 2002.
  • Could possibly be named co-DC along with Phil Parker.

Ron Aiken - Arizona Cardinals Defensive Line Coach
  • DL coach at Iowa from 1999-2006.
  • DL coach at Vanderbilt in 1995 and '96, where he worked with Eric Johnson, who was a GA for the Commodores.

Levar Woods - Iowa Administrative Assistant
  • Has been on the Iowa staff since 2008.
  • Played LB for the Hawkeyes from 1997-2000.
  • If hired, would likely coach outside linebackers and Phil Parker or Darrell would be the coordinator in this scenario. Darrell Wilson would coach inside linebackers and continue to coach special teams.

Rich Nagy - Western Michigan Safeties Coach
  • Defensive coordinator at Fordham in 1998 under head coach Ken O'Keefe.
  • Coached linebackers and special teams at Allegheny College from 1992-96 under O'Keefe.
  • Outside linebackers coach at Maine in 1990 and '91 under head coach Kirk Ferentz.
  • Graduate assistant at Allegheny in 1988, when O'Keefe was the team's offensive coordinator.
  • If hired, would likely coach safeties to lighten the load for Phil Parker.

Seth Wallace - Valdosta State Defensive Backs/Special Teams Coach
  • Graduate assistant at Iowa from 2006-08.
  • If hired, would coach defensive backs and allow Phil Parker to be just the coordinator.

Other names in consideration:
  • Mike Stoops, ex-Arizona
  • Mark Stoops, Florida State
  • Todd Bradford, Maryland
  • Chris Rippon, Marshall
