LSU Wide Receivers Coach

Billy Gonzales has left the LSU staff to become the new offensive coordinator at Illinois.  Here is our list of potential candidates to replace Gonzales on the Tigers staff:

Larry Porter - ex-Memphis Head Coach
  • RB coach at LSU from 2005-09 before taking the head job at Memphis.
  • RB coach at Oklahoma State from 2002-04, where he worked under head coach Les Miles.
  • RB coach at Arkansas State from 1999-2001.  Greg Studrawa was the OL coach at ASU from 1998-2000.
  • Porter is a RB coach, not a WR coach.  If hired, look for Frank Wilson to shift to receivers.  Wilson was the WR coach at Tennessee in 2009.

Zach Azzanni - Western Kentucky Offensive Coordinator
  • WR coach at Bowling Green from 2003-06 after starting as a graduate assistant with the program in 2001 and '02.  Greg Studrawa was the OL coach at Bowling Green in 2001 and '02 before taking over as offensive coordinator from 2003-06.

Greg Knox - Mississippi State Running Backs Coach
  • WR coach at Auburn from 1999-2008.  Steve Ensminger was an assistant at Auburn from 2003-08.

Karl Dorrell - Miami Dolphins Quarterbacks Coach
  • Offensive coordinator at Northern Arizona in 1990 and '91.  Steve Kragthorpe was his QB coach at NAU and replaced him as OC in '92 when Dorrell took a job at Colorado.

Tommie Robinson - Arizona Cardinals Running Backs Coach
  • WR coach at Georgia Tech from 2002-05.  Brick Haley was the LB coach for the Yellow Jackets in 2002 and '03.
  • RB coach at Oklahoma State in 2001, Les Miles' first year as the head coach at OSU.
  • Offensive assistant for the Dallas Cowboys from 1998-2000, where he worked with Miles, who was the Cowboys TE coach.
