Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator

Charley Molnar has left to become the new head coach at UMass. The coaching tree has come up with the following potential replacements:

Scot Loeffler - Temple Offensive Coordinator
  • Graduate assistant at Michigan in 1998 and '99. He worked with Mike Elston in '99 when Elston was also a GA for the Wolverines.
  • Played QB at Michigan from 1993-95 and stayed on as a student assistant in 1996 and '97. One of his teammates was Mike Elston, who played LB for the Wolverines from 1993-96.

Matt LaFleur - Washington Redskins Quarterbacks Coach
  • Offensive assistant coach at Central Michigan in 2004 and '05, where he worked on staff with Brian Kelly, Bob Diaco, and Mike Elston.

Jeff Brohm - Illinois Quarterbacks Coach
  • Assistant head coach at Louisville in 2007 and became the offensive coordinator in '08. Tony Alford was also on that Louisville staff, where he coached running backs.

Greg Forest - ex-Buffalo Offensive Coordinator
  • QB coach at Cincinnati from 2007-09 under Brian Kelly.
  • RB coach at Central Michigan from 2004-06 under Kelly.
  • WR coach at Grand Valley State from 1993-2003 under Kelly and OC Mike Denbrock

Other names in consideration: Mike Groh, Alabama; Chuck Long, Kansas; John DeFilippo, San Jose State.
